Here's what the industry "experts" say...

As part of our quest towards total world domination, we have to be tactical in our means to finding the ever-elusive and greasy gate keepers and key masters who rule the politic landscape that is the music and entertainment businesss. With that being said, on top of all the other "do-it-yourself" services that are currently availalbe online for artist to participate in this "global populartiy contest", our Super Heroes of RAWK have most recently started using Taxi.com to seek out and submit music for various industry opportunities.

With that being said, its important to mention that when you sign up for Taxi.com you really have no idea of who or what is behind the great curtains pulling all these alleged contacts and opportunites for" undiscovered" artists to have a SHOT @ getting their music in front of "top industry execs". Like most politcal gestures, this service seems to be clouded in promise and abstracts and seeminlgy lacks clarity or focus on who or what you are allegedy trying to sell your music too. I mean don't get me wrong, they have descriptions such as the following that satiate the pallette of artists who have dreamed of such opportunities such as the following listing from Taxi:

"ALTERNATIVE ROCK BANDS in the wide variety of U2, Coldplay, Radiohead, etc., are wanted by the VP of A&R at an International Independent Record Label with worldwide distribution. This label specializes in New Age and World Music and is extremely high-profile in those circles, but would like to branch out a bit and try to widen their repertoire. They want to hear radio-friendly songs and want to find bands that have a commercially appealing image. They would like artists who have established themselves online, with some sales and a bit of touring experience. These things aren't necessary to submit, but please don't forget to submit a photo/bio regardless of your experience and history. Please submit two to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later Thursday, August 20, 2009. TAXI #S090820AR"

Seems pretty incredible huh? VP of A&R @ an International Independent Record Lable with worldwide distribution... extremely high profile in those circles...radio-friendly songs... commercially appealling image..." WOW! That leaves a lot for the imagination doesn't it? I mean what band doesn't think they have these qualities? Seriously... However, in lieu of my critique, I am never one to pass on such opportunities since the basic MO is the why-not-fuck-it-lets-see-what-happens approach to making it in this business. Would I consider any of SGL's material to sound anything remotely like "U2? Coldplay or Radiohead?" Of course not! Are we completely off-the- mark given the scope of the requirements described above in submitting a song like "Love Demon"? Absolutely! So why are you yammering on about all this? Good question!

Its not a matter that we were regected or were "Returned". I mean I could of predicted that even before going through all the trouble of submitting the track but the important lesson here is that the magical and elusive OZ sitting at a computer behind his/her mysterious and abstract credentials of being a big shot TOP "industry expert" actually GRADES your music on something like a report card with comments and suggestions! I mean how cool is that? We should have these types of Scantron rating cards for all artists and musicians where any tom, jane, dick and harry can grade and comment on artists. Oh wait, I guess "raiting" content is somewhat dumbed down version of such and there are a TON of get the most votes wins contests to fill a day @ the miway. Nevertheless I felt compellled to share with the super fans of SGL so you can see and read FIRSTHAND what the almighty "industry gods" have to say about our musAk.
